2026 Memorial Day Weekend Racing

Since the end of WW2, Memorial Day brings the biggest professional bike racers to our area for the historic Tour of Somerville (NJ) and the more recent addition, the Easton Criterium. Through the spring, Team Cadence p/b Encore Wire and Foundations Cycling New York have been battling each other for criterium supremacy, and both teams were here for these races along with other top domestic, international, and Olympic racers. Not surprisingly, our top racer was Colin Fitzgerald, who was racing his way to a top-ten result at the Tour of Somerville until he was caught in a crash in the final sprint. Notably, Troy Sanders (Breinigsville, PA) made his first Pro Men's Race start at Easton and Somerville and earned finishes in both races. Here's a pretty good IG video clip of him avoiding a big crash, sort of. Andy Wolfe, Chris Meacham, Sean Guydish, Alec Smith, Connor Thompson, Noah Shumskas, and Andy Dudle also represented us in the very fast and very crash-filled Pro races. You can see the full photo galleries from Mike Maney and Steve Thompson

In 2026, we added a formal USA Cycling Club Team to our program to support the next generation of elite racers from our community. This weekend, we had the opportunity to watch Evan Guydish (Easton), Ian Borres (New Castle, DE), Elijah Barker (Doylestown), Carson Wiley (Pipersville), David Speaks (Bloomsburg), Zach Repp (Phillipsburg, NJ), and Josh Frederick (Telford) racing in front of big crowds, and trying to work their way through big crashes in the amateur fields. We were very encouraged to see the progress that they have all been making this season and pleased that everyone got through the weekend with nothing more than bumps and bruises!
