This past weekend (April 10–12), our team competed in the five-stage Tour of Newport News (VA), with all results counting toward the Omnium. Our men’s elite squad featured Colin Fitzgerald, Chris Meacham, Andy Wolfe, Sean Guydish, Connor Thompson, and Alec Smith, with Andy Dudle racing Elite Fixed Gear. Troy Sanders (Cat 2/3) and Ian Borres (Cat 3/4) represented our amateur club team. The Tour of Newport News draws a lot of top national and regional talent, and and thus a great early season opportunity for our team.

Mike Tyson once said, "Everyone has a plan until you get punched in the face." Our plan going into the elite competition was to support Andy Wolfe, who finished 2nd in the overall (Omnium) results in 2025. Unfortunately, Andy was involved in a bad crash in the opening Todd Stadium Points Race and had to withdraw from the event. His wounds were extensive, but superficial, and we know we'll see him racing soon. After a good team effort in the Newport News Twilight Criterium race and a strong individual result in the penultimate stage at the Ft. Custis Stage Race, Colin Fitzgerald secured a very nice 11th place in the Omnium Standings. Full results here.

Fixed gear (track) bikes have no brakes or coasting. Track racing specialist Andy Dudle has the skills to race all five stages in the Elite Men’s Fixed Gear field at Tour of Newport News, placing 4th in the Criterium, 3rd in the Circuit Race, and 5th overall in the Omnium.

In the amateur ranks, Troy Sanders (Cat 2/3) showed consistency, placing 8th overall, including an impressive 2nd in the Hill Climb. Ian Borres (Cat 3/4) rode all weekend aggressively to finish 7th overall, scoring key points in the opening stage. Elijah Barker (Cat 2/3) battled through mechanicals and a crash-filled weekend to finish 20th overall.
