Friday Night Racing Returns to T-Town

We only get to see Bethany Matsick part-time in 2024 but we'll take what we can get. A graduate of CB South, Bethany is currently residing in South Carolina and training with the US National Track Cycling Team in Colorado Springs, CO with eyes towards representing our country in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Bethany is currently on the "Long Team Roster" and awaiting news on which of the six women will make the four woman squad competing in the Team Pursuit discipline. On Friday night Bethany was here at home for a big week of racing in our area beginning at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center. Bethany's best result was winning the 5km Scratch Race ahead of a weekend of road racing.

Kimberly Ann Zubris (Alburtis, PA) is a multiple national championship track cyclist with loads of international racing accomplishment. Kim has her 2024 sites set on the USA Cycling Track National Championships where she'll compete in the Individual Pursuit, Team Pursuit, Points, Elimination and Omnium disciplines. In her free time, Kim is a PhD Biomedical Engineer and Chief Scientific Officer at Spoke Sciences, Inc. in the Lehigh Valley. On Friday night Kim finished 2nd to Olympic-hopeful Colleen Gulick in the Points Race Tournament and amassed points towards the 2024 Rider of the Year competition at T-Town.

2024 West Chester University graduate Julianna Rutecki (West Chester) is a second year member of our team racing road and track. Well, maybe there's a bit of a focus on track this year if we're being honest. However Julianna did just return from competing in the USA Cycling U23 Criterium Championships and also put in a big weekend at the Easton Twilight Criterium and the Tour of Somerville. Friday night she finished 6th in the Points Race Tournament as she also eyes up the USA Track National Championships (July 5-7) where she'll compete in the Omnium, Points, Scratch, Elimination and Individual Pursuit disciplines. While we're on the subject, we were so proud to have assisted Julianna in acquiring that rocket ship Look 895 Vitesse frameset that she's racing this year.

In 2023 Josh Rovner (Philadelphia) raced in our elite men's road program while attending medical school and preparing for his medical boards. Josh is one incredible human being. While racing a little bit on the road for the NYC-based Jamison team we convinced him to wear our colors on the track this season while he keeps his engines warm for post-med school racing. Maybe he got a little peanut butter and jealous looking at that Look 895 Vitesse Track frameset that Julianna has and got one too! Josh had a crash at the track on Friday but its just bumps and bruises (oh, that's why he's missing the top half of his kit in that photo) so he'll be back at it. Andy Dudle (Emmaus) is our longest tenured elite team athlete and a mainstay at T-Town. He's back in 2024 racing as a new father. We've noticed a little extra pep in his sprint this year that we're attributing to Dad Power! He'll be out there every Friday this summer.
