I don't know what's going on in Easton, PA these days, but for the 2nd consecutive year, the Easton Twilight Criterium brought some of the best criterium teams and riders to eastern Pennsylvania on Saturday evening including the L39ION of Los Angeles team, the 2024 Women's Criterium National Champion Coryn Labecki of the world tour, EF Education team.

The Men's Pro Race had 125 racers at the 8:45 PM start line but right at the gun a torrential rain storm erupted and paired with a blistering pace on the 0.7-mile course the field quickly winnowing down to 41 total finishers during the 1.5-hour race. Our men's team was represented by Sam Smith (Doylestown), Colin Fitzgerald (Philadelphia), Sean Guydish (Easton), Brad Green (Schnecksville), Alden Weinhold (Doylestown), and Andy Dudle (Emmaus) and we are so proud that our team had the most number of finishers in this brutal race.

Sam Smith was easily the race's most aggressive rider, constantly at the front of the field all night, and then found himself in a two-man breakaway with former 2x national champion Ty Magner of national powerhouse team L39ION of Los Angeles. Although the field eventually caught up, Sam survived a final sprint with Lucas Burgouyne of Austin Aviators, British racer Alec Briggs of Tekkerz, and Noah Granigan of Miami Blazers for a fourth-place finish. Special note: Alden Weinhold was one of the two, Category 2 racers to complete this race which is a massive result for him this season. You can watch the live stream recording of the races here. You can read a recap of the race at Bicycle Magazine here.

The Easton Twilight Criterium served as the Pennsylvania State Championship. Sam Smith and Julianna Rutecki won individual State Championships as the first Commonwealth finishers in their respective races. Alden Weinhold was one of only two Category 2 racers to complete the Men's Pro Race behind Otis Engel of Kelly Benefits Strategies, placing him 2nd in the CAT 2 state championship. Full results here.
