2024 Bike Service at Bike Works

It's the time of year when bike service and repairs are bustling at our shops in Doylestown and Newtown. We asked Joe Keffer (Newtown) about the most common questions he fields about getting your bike serviced with us.
1. Do I need an appointment? We like to assess your bike in person at our shops during business hours. Our mechanics will assess the bike in your presence, and give you a quote, and ETA for the completion of the work.
2. How far out are you guys on service? Both shops have a service queue of about two weeks. Some small repairs we're able to respond to quickly. In other cases, if the bike is safe and rideable, we'll provide a quote and schedule an appointment with you so we can turn your bike around on that date. We'll give you all those options when we assess the bike in person at the shop.
3. How accurate is the service quote you provide? We always leave a small $5-$10 window associated with any service quote for something we stumble upon while doing service. If anything more substantial emerges we'll always contact you before proceeding further. Our service menu board is here.
4. I bought a bike from you guys a few months ago and the shifting is weird, should I bring it in? All new bikes come with a year of service for complimentary break-in tune-ups. Cables stretching and settling in is a normal function of new bikes and is to be expected. Bring it in and if the shop isn't crazy busy we'll do our best to do it on the spot or schedule it quickly.
5. Do you service e-bikes? We service e-bikes from the brands we represent: Giant Group and Cannondale. Similar to auto service, e-bikes are dependent on updated firmware. We don't have access to firmware for brands we don't represent.
6. How will we know when our bike is ready? We will call you to let you know your bike has been serviced and is ready to be picked up. We like to think that we are under-promising and over-delivering when it comes to the ETA for your bike to be serviced and you'll be pleasantly surprised. We do caution that our capacity for bike storage is limited and there is a $2/day storage fee for bikes left longer than 7 days after notification. So come pick up your bike and go riding!
7. Why should I get my bike serviced at Bike Works? We're proud to say that we have the best bike technicians in the area on our team. Dan Turner (Newtown) is a UCI/USA licensed pro-mechanic who has wrenched for pro cycling teams like CCB Cycling Educational Foundation and our elite Bike Works p/b Fred Beans Cycling Team. Jason Wood, Egil Nilsson, and the crew in Doylestown have 100 years of bicycle technician experience. Not only are they expert technicians but we do our very best to offer practical service as well.
