Jeff Bekos launches One Dad's Mission

Jeff Bekos is a long-time Central Bucks County bike community member and rides with our Bike Works p/b Fred Beans Cycling Club. On a July morning in 2013, the Bekos family's lives were suddenly altered when their young daughter Hailey suffered the onset of a rare disease. After immediate medical treatment at Doylestown Health, Hailey was transferred to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for intensive treatment where she was diagnosed with Anti-NMDA encephalitis that affects 1 in 1.5 million people worldwide. During the four months of Hailey being in a coma, and the long return to a full recovery, their family came to understand the huge mission that the Ronald McDonald House Charities provide to families in extreme distress due to a child's illness.

2024 represents the 50th anniversary of the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Jeff has launched a coast-to-coast ride to raise awareness, volunteerism, and funding for the cause through his One Dad's Mission. His 4600 mile, 157k vertical feet ride from California to Philadelphia will bring him to 26 Ronald McDonald Houses to raise 5 million dollars to fund the cause for the next 50 years. Jeff is currently in mid-America working his way home. We were proud to support Jeff and the One Dad's Mission. Mike Maney and Brian Boger hosted Jeff, Hailey, Dr. Richard Linkenheimer, and Laura Wortman from Doylestown Health Foundation on Bald Guys on Bikes.
