Bike Works Sponsors Local High School Mountain Bike Teams

Bucks County’s biggest indoor cycling event brings the fun, music, and high-energy crowds to raise funds for Bike Works p/b Fred Beans Cycling Team

The Bucks County Composite Mountain Bike Team and the Lower Bucks Youth Mountain Bike Team are local affiliates of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League (PICL). The racers are middle school and high school aged. Neighboring communities also have NICA affiliate teams, and our clubs generally participate in regional races. 

A “NICA Night” sponsored by Giant Bicycles USA and Northeast Speciality Sports, Inc. was held at Bike Works Newtown (208 N. Sycamore St.) on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The event included head-to-head racing between the team members on stationary bikes. Bike Works, LLC presented $500 sponsorship checks to both teams for their upcoming seasons. We hope some of these athletes progress to racing with the Bike Works p/b Fred Beans Elite Cycling Team, a USA Cycling Domestic Elite Team.

“We are so encouraged by the national success of the NICA program to introduce the next generation of American bicycle racers and riders,” said Dan Turner, Shop Manager at Bike Works Newtown and USA Cycling Pro Mechanic. “It’s so great to see these kids getting out on the trails, being with friends, and enjoying the bike. It’d be pretty cool if we saw one of these kids in the Olympics in 2028.”

The Bike Works p/b Fred Beans Cycling Team is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support competitive cycling in our community.
