Meet a Racer: Julianna Rutecki

Julianna Rutecki (West Chester, PA) returns for her second season with our team racing primarily on the road and track. Julianna began racing in 2016 and previously competed with the Young Medalist and Vitesse Cycling programs. Cycling is in her genes as we in the shop have known her parents for many years as area cyclists and multi-sport athletes. If you happened to attend our 2024 Goldsprints event you saw her father Tom (an award-winning, local police officer) facing off against his patrol partner in a 300-meter sprint.

Julianna had 2023 podium finishes at the Lower Providence Spring Classic, the Historic Riverton Criterium, and the Ardmore Criterium. She had top 5 finishes at the Wilmington Grand Prix and the Easton Twilight Criterium. She competed in national events such as the Intelligentsia Cup (Chicago, IL) and the Littleton Criterium (Littleton, CO). Julianna also had a full track season that included competing in the USA Cycling Elite Track Cycling National Championship in Los Angeles, CA. "Looking ahead to 2024 some of my goals on the bike are to continue to learn and improve on both the road and track. My main focus will be on the track where I aim to content for Rider of the Year at T-Town (Valley Preferred Cycling Center). Then also having a successful track nationals in July. On the road, I'll be focusing on criteriums where I'll attend local races and select races on the national calendar. Excitement is brewing as I head down to the first few days of Speed Week next week!"

Off the bike Julianna is working at taking her on-the-bike passion to the job market: "I will be graduating from West Chester University in a few weeks with a degree in Exercise Science, specializing in strength and conditioning. I've been in an amazing internship this semester with a top-level strength coach, Rob Rabena at Ivy Rehab. In this internship, I've gotten to work with MLB players, D1 college athletes, and a variety of high school athletes. A career goal of mine has always been to become a coach and work with young athletes, it would be cool to work with cyclists!"

On the road Julianna races on a 2023 Liv Langma Advanced Pro Disc 0. In 2024 things got pretty exciting. Julianna is putting the finishes on a 2024 Look 895 Vitesse track frame with those deep FFWD RYOT77 carbon wheels. While we love all of our team bike projects equally, this is one we love just a touch more. " I love my Liv Langma, it's easily become my favorite ride. I've been on that bike for a year now and I'm looking forward to getting another great season on my Langma. I'm also really excited about the new addition to my equipment- the Look Vitesse track bike! It's a big level-up for me on the track. I'm looking to take a big focus and level up on the track this year, I know this bike will put me in the best position to achieve those goals."
